Spotting tools produce a shallow hole to enable a drill to get a more accurate hole position. This enables you to produce more accurate machined parts. Spot Drills hep insure geometrically uniform holes and improve hole location accuracy.

Ideally, the proper spotting angle should have larger point angle than that of your drill, so the center of a drill shall be the first point to contact workpiece to prevent the drill from "walking".

The Nine9 ACE spotting tool is not only produce better hole position but also extends the tool life of the drill and improves production efficiency.  . Nowadays, to cope with market demands, we supply various point angles.
Nine 9 Ace Spot Drill 2-flutes edged
The ACE Spot Drill design assures precise positioning of the insert as a result of the dual clamping screwed design. This results in vibration free while cutting.

The symmetric 2-flute edge design reduced the lateral forces and enhances the rigidity enabling to you to run higher feed rates.

Additionally, the double point angles make the insert tip stronger and prolong the service life of the tool. Optimal internal coolant design brings better balancing to run at high speed.
The ACE Set Drill Design enables a very precise positioning of the inserts a result of the dual clamping screwed design.

This also ensures vibration free while cutting.

The internal coolant design enhances the balance so you can run at higher speeds.

2-flutes edged is symmetric, it reduces the lateral force.

According to customer feedback : "The surface finish on the holes is very nice and the chips fall away very easily. I am very impressed with how well the tip is holding up. That has been my biggest issue with using carbide spotting tools in the past, as the tips are too fragile. The Nine9 ACE Spot Drill features a dual point angle design that ensures strength at the center to prevent fracturing."

QR code on metal component by Nine9 spotting tool
QR codes are becoming ubiquitous. You can find them on business cards, letterhead paper, packing boxes, concert tickets, and even on metal!

QR codes are also used extensively on medical equipment, automotive parts, tool holders and clamping devices to provide operators a hand help links from their smart phone to operating instructions and other critical documentation.

As a result of laser marking being blurred or erased there has been more and more interest in a more permanent method of creating a QR code in metal and the Nine9 Spotting cutting tool has become an easy solution.

Nine9 has released a series of NC Spot Drills for general spotting-chamfer tool, a Micro Spot Drill for mini spotting, and a New ACE Spot Drill for optimized machining efficiency and stability.

Spotting tools are available in 60°, 90°, 120°, 142°, and 145° included angles.

Nine9 cooperated with Heidenhainto to demonstrate making this QR code application in the video below.

Ergo indexable milling spotting chamfering cutter
"Ergo" is a new trademark of Nine9 for ER type indexable cutter. The cutter is assembly kit by the 3 parts including Ergo nut, high strength Ergo pin and Integrated ER taper. Patented design mechanism to produce high clamping Forces and high runout accurancy.

It's perfectly suitable for driven tools and spindles with ER interface of CNC turning centers and swiss type automatic lathes such as Star, Citizen, Tsugami, Doosan, Tornos, INDEX, EMAG and so on.

The Ergo provides types ER11, ER16, ER20, ER25 taper-shank cutter. The ergo tooling include milling cutter, spot drill, chamfering tool, corner rounding, engraving tool, deburring tool, center drill and boring tool.
The fundamental concept of an ERGO integrated ER taper/shank cutter is to eliminate the assembly tolerance associated with a straight shank.

A clamping force from the 3 parts including Ergo nut, a high strength pin and ER taper. The Ergo nut drives the pin to Ergo holder into ER taper both positioning and locking everything accurately in place.

Nine9 Cutting Tools Honored in the Making of Forged Wheel's and Tire Molds for Electric Cars.

4/20/2021

Nine9 was recently recognized in an article  “Meet the 1000 ‘hidden champions’ behind Taiwan's electric car-making dream”. From hardware providers to software companies, Taiwanese “hidden champions” have rallied under the banner of electric vehicles. They can produce every part of the car, from top to bottom, from a small screw to whole car body, including internal combustion engine and electric system.

If you didn't already know,  Nine9’s V045 / V060 Engraving tool is a popular tool for mold and die in tire mold applications.

The Engraving tools can run at higher speed and axial depth of cut (AP) is up to 0.8mm to reduce cycle time and do it all burr free.

The V045/V060 Engraving tool is also used to  engrave the serial number,  logo and all of the product info on wheel frame and rim in any kinds of steel, aluminum alloy, and stainless steel with excellent quality and time saving.

Nine9’s NC Helix Drill is the preferred tool for car wheels.

The  Nine9 NC Helix Drill is used to machine multi-stepped holes in forged wheels manufacturing.  The NC Helix Drill has special insert geometry design with serrated cutting edge that makes chips small, short, and easier to evacuate. It's really good for cutting material that generates long, stringy, soft chips that are typical in the  aluminum alloy used in forged wheels.

Picture
Nine9’s NC Helix Drill excels in performance of forged wheels.
With the need for decreased cycle time, forged wheel production has become much more automated which means unattended machining   The importance of chip control and evacuation also increases significantly in that kind of environment.

Why is chip evacuation important?

The reason is while lights out machining, manufacturers not only don’t want to stop machine because of chip wrapped around tool, they can't. And what can result is scratches the forged wheel that lead to higher scrap rates.
The NC Helix Drill is capable of helical interpolation for milling, drilling and slotting with a single tool. Take a look at the video below and you can see why it's preferred in a lights-out production floor or even a short run production machine shop: It can optimize the machining process by tool saving from 2 to 4 tools and reduce the machining time by one operation with excellent chip control!
