In January of this year we welcomed a new member to our Browne & Co. sales team and with manufacturing companies opening up again, it's about time we introduce you to Jeff Terrace!
Just before joining Browne & Co in January 2019, Jeff worked at Hoffmann Group, a German cutting tool, hand tool, workstation and storage solutions manufacturer. Jeff has been working as an InovaTool representative since February of 2019 and recently joined Browne & Company at the beginning of 2020 as our Cutting Tool Specialist. Please send Jeff and email or give him a call to introduce yourself or pick his brain about an application question. Deep-hole drilling presents a unique challenge in machining—especially when dealing with steels and stainless steels. The DEEPMAX drill series from Inovatools, available in the U.S. through Fullerton Tool, is designed specifically to improve performance, reliability, and tool life in these demanding applications. Each DEEPMAX drill is built with two flutes, a 135° notched point for precise centering, and internal coolant channels. This geometry supports effective chip evacuation and high positioning accuracy. The notched point reduces the risk of drill walk at entry, improving alignment over long distances. To handle extreme drilling depths, the tool features a special flute polish and a four-land design that enhances hole straightness and surface finish—even in cross-holes or inclined surfaces. Available in lengths up to 30xD, DEEPMAX drills are stocked in 15xD, 20xD, and 30xD sizes to accommodate a range of applications. The high-performance VARACON coating reduces heat and friction while extending service life. A newly developed edge preparation process further refines cutting performance by minimizing cutting forces and stabilizing chip formation, especially critical in deep-hole applications. Tobias Eckerle, Product Manager at Inovatools, notes that the series has undergone a complete overhaul. Geometry, flute polish, coating, and edge prep are all optimized for deeper, faster, more reliable drilling. Fullerton Tool provides U.S. customers with access to this European-engineered solution, supporting industries that require deep, accurate bores without compromising tool life or process stability. On Saturday, May 30 at 3:22 p.m. EDT, SpaceX’s Falcon 9 launched Crew Dragon’s second demonstration (Demo-2) mission from Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, and the next day Crew Dragon autonomously docked to the International Space Station (ISS). This test flight with NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley on board the Dragon spacecraft returned human spaceflight to the United States. Demo-2 is the final major test for SpaceX’s human spaceflight system to be certified by NASA for operational crew missions to and from the ISS. SpaceX is returning human spaceflight to the United States, and NASA’s Commercial Crew Program is a turning point for America’s future in space exploration that lays the groundwork for future missions to the Moon, Mars, and beyond. Upon conclusion of the mission, Crew Dragon will autonomously undock with the two astronauts onboard the spacecraft and depart the Space Station. After jettisoning the trunk and conducting its deorbit burn, which lasts approximately 12 minutes, Dragon will reenter Earth’s atmosphere. Upon splashdown just off Florida’s Atlantic Coast, Dragon and the astronauts will be quickly recovered by SpaceX’s Go Navigator recovery vessel and returned to Cape Canaveral. Sowa Tool has relocated its current US based distribution center in Maumee, Ohio to a newer, 40% larger facility in Mooresville, North Carolina.
This move will provide better 1-2 day coverage to their rapidly growing customer base in the south-east United States while maintaining our 2 day coverage across the entire north-east and mid-west. This inventory transition took place towards the end of the 2019 calendar year. The new facility is now fully online and ready to serve our US customers. |
